Historical Bereg Folk-music Festival

On the 19of June 2009 at 6 PM there was a folk-music evening on the yard of the Mezõvári Secondary School named after Ferenc Rakóczi II. Its title was Szól a figemadár (Fig-bird sings).
The musical life of Transcarpathia is very varied / parti-coloured. The wonderful natural facilities and the specific peace of mind of the local people play(ed) a very important role in the development of personal and sparkling of music-art. In the programme on the yard of the school a musical evening was held where different folk-music bands stepped up, so they could introduce themselves. This programme helped to preserve the local music-culture.

Transcarpathian performers:
· Citera (a very old Hungarian musical instrument) band of VáriArt School
· Child and Grown-up Folk-music Choir of VáriArt School
· A Solo Folk-music Group of Mezõvári Secondary School named after Ferenc RákócziII

On this programme the home folk-music bands are going to show themselves:
· Bereg Citera-band: Tarpa
· Tarpai Tulip Pensioner Club s Folk-music Circle: Tarpa
· Woman Choir of Gelénes: Gelénes

The project Development of Stretch-over-Borders Cooperation in the Hungarian-Ukrainian Border-area came in for support, which is partly financed by the EGT and the Norwegian Financing Mechanism, and the Republic of Hungary.
